My mother inspires me. She taught me that with God all things are possible. She put a math book in one of my hands and a Bible in the other, and made me believe I could do anything.
For me the whole is naturally greater than the sum of the individual parts. I believe in the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child.” That is an organizational strategy.
I have learned to appreciate the strength of effective teamwork. I can accomplish so much more when I am working with a team. I enjoy teamwork—at work, in my community, and with my family.
I have learned two critical lessons: First, in the context of a rapidly changing business environment, it is important to develop new skills constantly. Second, do not underestimate the value of creating and maintaining relationships.
It’s important to acknowledge that each individual makes a valuable contribution to the larger team and that cross-functional teamwork is key to an organization’s success.
