A lot of attention is given to how we raise the next generation of girls to be strong and rise above stereotypes. So why are we still telling a generation of boys to “be a man”?
After learning that research shows boys in the US are more likely to be diagnosed with a behavior disorder, prescribed stimulant medications, fail at school, binge drink, commit violent crimes, and commit suicide, when compared to girls, The Representation Project made a documentary film (coming soon) called The Mask You Live In, which explores the effects of defeminized cultural expectations on young boys.
