How do you think Asian Americans have evolved in terms of industry/field diversity?
I believe we have made tremendous progress in making worthwhile contributions across the globe. We have been able to add true value to clients across different domains with the technical leadership.
“Adapt to the culture and people and make the effort to get to know and understand them. This is core to be able to serve global clients better.”
How has your heritage been beneficial or helpful in your career/and or business relationships?
Competitive culture and progressive education has deeply shaped the drive to achieve and succeed. At the same time values of compassion and integrity have helped form meaningful relationships internally and outside the firm.
Are there any stereotypes of Asian/Pacific Americans that should be refuted or are incorrect?
One that I have encountered often is the impression that we don’t speak up. It’s difficult for people of our origin to say No to the client and be the bearer of bad news. While it is true to some extent a lot of progress has been made and most people are able to cross that barrier now.
